Terms of service
Last updated October 14, 2026
By creating a Charter Hours Log account you agree to these terms. If you sign up for a charter business, you agree on its behalf.
The service
Charter Hours Log is a record-keeping tool. It shows the readings, intervals and dates you and your crew enter and flags what is due or overdue; it does not read your engines, set service intervals, or replace the manufacturer's maintenance schedule, the mechanic's judgment, or the pre-departure checks a licensed captain makes. Engine maintenance, vessel safety and regulatory reporting (including catch reports to NOAA or your state) remain the responsibility of the business and its captains. We aren't responsible for a missed service, engine damage, a cancelled trip, or injuries.
Your account
- Keep your password private. You're responsible for what happens under your account.
- The owner controls who joins the business's account and can disable logins at any time.
- Don't misuse the service: no attempts to break in, overload it, or access other businesses' data.
Plans and billing
- Every new business gets a 14-day free trial on the Fleet + Shop plan. No card is needed to start. When it ends, your records stay readable, but nothing can be added or changed until you choose a plan.
- Plans are billed monthly or yearly in advance through Stripe and renew automatically until cancelled.
- You can cancel any time from the Billing page; you keep paid features until the end of the period you paid for. We don't give partial refunds.
- If a plan lapses, your data stays, but adding records and the logins above the Skipper plan stop working until you subscribe again.
- We may change prices with at least 30 days' notice by email.
Your data
Your business's records belong to you. You can export them at any time on plans with CSV export, and we will send a full copy on request. See the privacy policy for what we store.
Availability
We work to keep Charter Hours Log running but can't promise it will never be down. The service is provided "as is", and our total liability is limited to what you paid us in the last 12 months.
Changes and ending
We may update these terms and will email account owners about material changes. You can stop using Charter Hours Log at any time; we may suspend accounts that break these terms.
